Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
A new ministry is coming to town!
At our February 15th Church Planning Session, those in attendance discussed how we could build relationships with the community. As a result of that discussion, a new ministry was born. The Oakland UMC will serve a free community meal at 5:30pm on the last Tuesday of the month. Our hope and prayer is that through this ministry we will get to know our community better and make a difference by reaching out to folks and showing them the love of Jesus. The community can come and get to know our church members in a way that they might have not done otherwise; it’s a good way to fellowship with our neighbors.
The first meal will be served on March 31. We need your help in order for this to work. Your help might be in the form of donations of money and/or food. You could serve as a greeter – welcoming our neighbors. Maybe you can help plan a meal. What about cooking the meal or serving the meal. And we always need help cleaning up. Let me know how you can help.
Please pray for this ministry. Pray that through this ministry our neighbors will see the church of God as a living breathing organism, a body of true believers.
